Nicola MacNaughton began her career as an Occupational Therapist in a Crown corporation. Frustrated with the challenges of ensuring individuals resumed a healthy quality of life following a physical or mental illness, Nicola opened a private practice located in Moncton, New Brunswick in 1999. She grew the business to three locations with 38 employees and most recently was acquired by a Canadian based national organization. Realizing after eight months that being an employee was not going to be the ongoing career path, Nicola left the organization and opened Legatnit Inc. Her business offers life care planning services to the medical-legal community.
Nicola was the former president of the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists, completing her mandate in September 2018. Nicola enjoys being an educator and has taught online for NIDMAR and the Pacific Coast University for Workplace Health Sciences in the area of disability management for more than 15 years. She has also taught at McGill University in the area of role emerging practice in occupational therapy. She is a Certified Disability Management Professional and Certified Return to Work Coordinator.
Nicola has thus far committed her career to the field of disability management. Her belief is that all people have a right to a healthy quality of life. She strives to help remove barriers that prevent people from pursuing their passions, maintaining roles and responsibilities in the home and contributing to society.
